New York Giants – A brief history

The New York Giants are one of the oldest and most storied franchises in the National Football League (NFL). The team was founded in 1925 by Tim Mara, who paid $500 for the franchise. The Giants played their first season in the NFL in 1925 and finished with an impressive 8-4-0 record.

The Giants won their first NFL championship in 1927, defeating the Chicago Bears 13-7. The team continued to have success throughout the 1930s and 1940s, winning four more NFL championships in 1934, 1938, 1956, and 1958. During this time, the Giants had many great players, including Mel Hein, who played center for the team from 1931 to 1945 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963.

The Giants struggled in the 1960s and 1970s, but they had a resurgence in the 1980s under head coach Bill Parcells. The team won two Super Bowl championships in 1986 and 1990, led by star players such as quarterback Phil Simms, running back Ottis Anderson, and linebacker Lawrence Taylor.

In the 1990s, the Giants continued to have success under head coach Dan Reeves, making it to the playoffs six times in eight seasons. However, the team was unable to win another Super Bowl championship during this time.

In 2004, the Giants hired Tom Coughlin as their head coach. Coughlin led the team to a Super Bowl championship in 2007, defeating the undefeated New England Patriots in one of the greatest upsets in NFL history. The team’s victory was fueled by a dominant defense led by players such as defensive end Michael Strahan and linebacker Antonio Pierce, as well as the heroics of quarterback Eli Manning and wide receiver Plaxico Burress.

The Giants won another Super Bowl championship in 2011, defeating the Patriots once again in a thrilling game that was decided in the final moments. Manning, who was named the Super Bowl MVP for the second time in his career, connected with wide receiver Mario Manningham on a 38-yard pass that set up the game-winning touchdown.

In recent years, the Giants have struggled to find success on the field. The team has undergone several coaching changes and has failed to make the playoffs since winning their last Super Bowl championship in 2011. However, the Giants have a number of talented young players, including running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Daniel Jones, who are working to bring the team back to its winning ways.

Throughout their history, the Giants have had many great players and moments. The team has had 28 players inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including Lawrence Taylor, Frank Gifford, and Y.A. Tittle. The Giants have also had many iconic moments, such as “The Catch” by receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in 2014 and the “Helmet Catch” by receiver David Tyree in Super Bowl XLII.

The Giants are one of the most beloved and respected franchises in the NFL, with a rich history and passionate fan base. The team’s success over the years has been fueled by a commitment to hard work, discipline, and teamwork, and the Giants continue to be a team that other teams aspire to emulate.

Giants vs Seahawks Week 14 Predictions and Report

Tags :

This will be Big Blue’s test against a very good winning team, since week 8’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 25:23. The New York Giants will be without their young starting QB Daniel Jones. Instead, Colt Mccoy will be starting as a 10 year veteran will be facing Russell Wilson and the Metcalf-Monster. Wilson has been in the MVP race this season and also DK Metcalf has been leading the NFL with 1,039 receiving yards.

The Giants have had ups and downs on offense this season at receiving with Evan Engram and Darius Slayton, and Sterling Shepard. They are leading the team all together this season with 1,419. That’s more than half of Daniel Jones passing yards this season! Wayne Gallman has been a show this season, second on our team for rushing yards with 369 yards, 1st Daniel Jones 403.

Gallman has had a record season with his 6 Rushing TD’s.  The Giants O-Line got better C Nick Gates and LG Shane Lemieux have been improving as young guys with potential.   While Seattle has had an elite offense this season and one of their best is Tyler Lockett’s with him shiny tip-toe catches will be hard to stop. Seattle’s rushing game hasn’t been as dynamic as last season. Chris Carson has been injured with Covid-19 issues and injuries so their their rushing game has taken a step back.   Russell Wilson has been leading the team with 379 rush yards. David Moore and Greg Olsen will be good weapons to add into the mix.

The Giants have been improving on defense and have started to close out games when they have been close. James Bradberry IV has been great with 12 pass breakups 2nd in NFL and 3 interceptions 8th in NFL. Our D-Line has been pretty good 8th on rushing in the NFL. Leonard Williams has been leading the team with 6 sacks and Blake Martinez leads the team with 101 tackles 4th in the NFL with Roquan Smith LB Chicago Bears.

Seattle’s defense has been decent this season. Against the rush, they defense is okay, Carlos Dunlap II has been a big impact on Seattle’s defense since they signed him,  with 4.5 Sacks and Bobby Wagner has 100 tackles so far this season. Jamal Adams is obviously a hard hitter so he’s had 3 forced fumbles and 3 sacks and 1 pick on the season.

The Giants Special Teams was bad last week and they allowed Brandon Wilson SS from Cincinnati Bengals set a kickoff return record in Bengals history of 103 yards.  This season the Giants Special forced three fumbles off kickoff returns. The Seahawks have also had a good special teams this season forcing 1 punt block and 2 fumbles this season. Quandre Diggs has recovered 1 fumble and KJ Wright recovered 1 fumble too. The punt block was by Quinton Dunbar.

Injury Report:
Giants Daniel Jones QB Doubtful, David Mayo LB Questionable.

Seahawks Carlos Hyde RB Questionable, Travis Homer RB Doubtful, Carlos Dunlap II DE Questionable, Brandon Shell OT Doubtful, Tre Flowers CB Injured Reserve/IR.

Score Prediction 27 Seattle 23 Giants
